Completely agree. You need a team to own these definitions. A data team is best but a BI or finance team is fine
Hi Everyone, I'm Cameron, the founder of Sentier Étoilé. I spent 6 years working as a data analyst mostly with early stage companies and I realised after 3 months the value I offered these companies fell off a cliff for 3 reasons:
I'd give the company loads of useful insights when I first joined but they would still be implementing the actions from those insights a year later.
After 3 months my attention would turn to building pipelines, automating process and implementing new tools: valuable work but not immediately valuable.
Setting up a data team from scratch would typically cost a company at least £200,000 to hire an analyst, engineer and purchase the required licences to build a proper data team.
Based on this I came to the conclusion that setting up a full time data team is not right for every business but that every business could use the data they already have to gain an advantage and optimise core business functions like marketing, product development and customer retention. So I founded Sentier Étoilé: we use the data businesses already have and exact the useful insights and turn them into actions a business can take for the next year; all within six weeks for a fixed fee. If you're passionate about data and helping small businesses grow drop me a message, I'd love to chat!
I've spent six years as a data analyst, usually as the first hire, inside e-commerce, fintech, and insurance businesses. The pattern I kept seeing: companies have more useful data than they realise and almost none of it is set up in a way that lets them actually use it. I recently founded Sentier Étoilé to productise what I was already doing; but I'm early stage and I want to work with real businesses before I start charging. Here's the offer: I'll audit your data infrastructure for free. That means a clear picture of how your data is currently being captured, stored, and distributed across your business, what's missing, where the gaps are, and a practical roadmap for turning it into a scalable system capable of supporting proper analytics and eventually custom AI models. It'll take about two hours of your time. In return I'm asking for an honest testimonial I can use. Who it's for: founders running a business with under £10M ARR and believe data can be a strategic asset they are ready to utilise. If you're interested or know someone who might be, drop a reply or message me directly. Cameron
