The most dangerous salesperson is the one who thinks they're prepared. After 25+ years in sales and working with thousands of salespeople, I've seen this happen more times than I can count. A salesperson walks into an important customer meeting feeling confident. They know their product inside out. They've prepared their presentation. They're ready to answer questions. But there's one problem. They've prepared to talk about their product. They haven't prepared to sell to that customer. They miss the customer's real business challenges. They fail to connect their solution to meaningful business outcomes. They don't know how to position themselves against the competition. And when the customer says, "Interesting. Send us a proposal," they leave thinking the meeting was a success. Two weeks later? Silence. A lost deal doesn't always start with a bad product or a high price. Sometimes it starts with a badly prepared meeting. That's one of the reasons I built The Closer Mindset (TCM). I wanted salespeople to walk into meetings knowing more than their product features. I wanted them to have a clear strategy for what to ask, what to say, how to differentiate, and how to move the opportunity forward. So here's an actual example. Imagine you're selling Kantata's Professional Services Automation solution to Slalom, competing against Asana. TCM builds a complete 12-section preparation that includes: 🎯 A meeting strategy focused on delivery efficiency, utilization and profitability. 💡 Discovery questions designed to uncover business opportunities—not just collect information. ⚔️ Competitive positioning that shifts the conversation from task management to business value. 💬 Practical responses to likely customer objections. 🤝 A closing strategy that moves toward a specific working session and pilot. I published the complete, unedited report so you can judge it yourself. The scenario is hypothetical, but the report is genuine TCM output. 👉 https://theclosermindsetapp.com/saas-sales-meeting-preparation.html?utm_source=peerlist&utm_medium=organic_social&utm_campaign=tcm_phase2&utm_content=report_demo Here's the question I'd love to ask other sales leaders: How many deals have you seen lost because the salesperson knew the product—but didn't really understand how to approach the customer?
Fair question, and probably an important one :) You can absolutely use Claude or ChatGPT to prepare for a sales meeting. The difference is that TCM is built specifically around the sales meeting workflow. Before the meeting it researches the customer, your product, industry and named competitor and turns that into value angles, discovery questions, competitive strategy, objections and a meeting plan. During the meeting it can capture the conversation. After, it analyzes what happened, coaches you on what you missed and recommends the next move. So instead of figuring out what to ask an AI, feeding it context and prompting it each time, the sales workflow is already built for you.
If you have a real meeting coming up, I'd actually love you to compare the two and tell me which one actually prepares you better for the meeting.
Looking for 10 B2B salespeople to test a sales-meeting prep tool I built The Closer Mindset to help B2B salespeople prepare for real customer meetings. Enter the customer, what you're selling and the competitor you're facing, and it prepares your value angles, discovery questions, competitor strategy, objections, pitch and next move. I'm looking for B2B sellers with a real upcoming customer or prospect meeting to try it for free and tell me what genuinely helps — and what doesn't. No demo. No sales call. Just use it for a real meeting and give me your feedback. Interested? Reply here with what you sell, and I'll send you access.
