Hey everyone! 👋 I’m currently taking some time to study and grow in my role, and I’d love to get your input. If you’ve worked with or hired a Brand Strategist before what do you expect them to be really good at? What kind of mindset or approach stands out most to you? Also, I’d really appreciate any recommendations on tools, software, strategies, or presentation styles worth digging into to improve in this field. Thanks so much in advance for your thoughts and support it means a lot! 🙏
Something that I personally struggle with is "messaging", If a 'Brand Strategist' comes on board to help us with this, I would expect them to really help me with the right storytelling for my brand, so I can come up with the right messaging, which in return will help us design the right brand as well. So, the question I would ask is, would you be able to strategise the brand message into a story that the customers can resonate with and create a lifelong relationship with the brand itself.
Hi Nicoleta K. - From hiring/firing brand strategists as a founder: - Messaging insights - Do homework and bring 2-3 insights to first meeting - Adaptability - Each startup is unique. Don’t force-fit textbook approaches i.e., Map is not the territory. - Execution in chaos - Show you can ship, not just strategize i.e., show you are a doer and not a talker. - Creative thinking - Bring unconventional ideas, not just best practices i.e., think out of the box. The best strategists I’ve hired understood our specific context and delivered actionable work, not generic frameworks. Hope this helps… All the Best!!!
