Tips for Writing LinkedIn Posts That Boost LLM Citations and Thought Leadership

Do we have any LinkedIn ghostwriting experts here? I recently started ghostwriting for an exec and our primary goal is for their brand to have increased LLM citations. They decided to focus on improving their presence on LinkedIn because they see it as a top cited source. I've always been a thought leadership writer and my clients come to me because of that but, with LLMs in the picture, I guess my question is, what are the top things I should know in terms of writing LinkedIn posts that will "attract" LLMs and for it to see this person and their company we constantly mention in the LI post as an expert? So we can eventually achieve the goal of increased LLM citations... Thanks so much!

this is a really smart q - I never thought folks wrote their linkedin posts for search / aeo optimizations. what's worked for SEO?

not a writer, however can share how models are parsing for signals, including Linkedin. in general it scans for natural users queries, so repetitive and natural placing brand/person name next to professional achievement or business goals, examples, data/numbers will work very well. give it a time, you can check the results asking directly one of the models, would suggest perplexity or grok as it provides real time direct link to info source.

Jared R. no idea... We're still really just starting out. March is literally my 3rd month and we're only publishing 1 LI article per month. I wish they'd be ok to do more than 1 bc i feel like that won't move the needle much but yeah..m i'm still figuring out a lot of things...

Lana C. so you're saying, when I'm writing these thought leadership articles I should incorporate natural queries people often Google w/o making it sound forced and this will help LLMs see our LI articles are something worth citing, yes?? Not sure I understand what you mean by "natural placing bran/person name next to professional achievement or business goals, examples, data/numbers" can you clarify this part? Also, I never really thought about asking ChatGPT or Perplexity 😅 how much time you think I should wait before asking LLMs to see if our article got cited?

We’ve been optimizing LinkedIn posts for SEO/AI GEO as well. Here’s an example on what Google indexes for “SAAS CRM”. As with most search engines, the fundamentals of expertise, experience, authoritativeness, and trust apply. We’re recommending that LinkedIn posts be formulated in clear language exactly what it’s about starting with the first sentence acting as an H1 tag in SEO speak. Tammy D. as this case about semantic search: use consistent naming and descriptors everywhere, include testimonials/reviwes) and other independed mentiones (not only self-promotion). You should try search signals with different models, for instanse: Whos is... or What company offers.... - and see results.
