Hi everyone 👋 Quick question for anyone working in marketing or sales at a SaaS/product-based company — whether you’re a fresher or have a few years under your belt: 🎯 How did you land your current role? Was it through LinkedIn, a referral, a job portal — or something else entirely? I’m asking because I’ve got 1 year of experience in digital marketing (SEO, content, paid ads) at an agency, and I’m now actively job hunting to transition into a SaaS/product company. So far I’ve noticed: Very few active openings in SaaS/product marketing Cold DMs getting ignored LinkedIn job listings often outdated If you’ve made a similar switch (especially from agency to SaaS), I’d love to hear what worked for you — job hacks, strategies, referrals, or just real talk. 🙌 Thanks in advance for any advice, and feel free to reply here or DM me! PS: If you saw my earlier post — thanks for patiently ignoring it 😅
I'd say the number one thing to do when you're transitioning into a new industry is to try to get an internship (applying directly and via dm). Also try to get people who will vouch for you (networking via coffee chats, events, Slack communities, etc.) The tricky thing about moving into SaaS is the homework you need to do. People assume you have a baseline knowledge of the players in the space, the tech, and core concepts. For entry level positions, people care more about you showing initiative and being curious rather than your concrete work experience
Not a FT job but I constantly getting quality gigs for my GTM Advisory work
Building media (Linkedin + Newsletter + Youtube) + Networking with CXOs
That's by far the best ROI activities
