Hi Folks, Looking for some insights from your mighty brains! Our sales managers and demand generation marketing want our sales reps to use Vidyard videos in their outbound emails to prove that the sellers are human and to differentiate from AI-generated communications. What opinions do you have about this approach? Anyone already tried videos in emails to see if they cut thru the AI noise?
Hey Danita, Video can work but it depends heavily on where in the sequence you use it. Cold first touch - I'd be cautious. Video thumbnails in emails often hurt deliverability because of the image and link load, and if someone doesn't know you they usually won't click play anyway. Where it works much better is later in the sequence, after someone has already replied or shown some engagement. At that point a short personal video does genuinely differentiate because it proves there's a real person and it's much harder to fake at scale. So the instinct from your managers is right, the timing just matters. Video as a follow-up asset rather than a cold opener.
What a great thought.
One more insight: Lorene Ryal (Gigamon webmaster) also suggested including sender's LinkedIn profile link in outbound email signature is essentially free and shows evidence that the sender is a real human with a face.
Calling is still the gold standard. No AI slop here and most people have given it up.
the underlying issue is AI slop has destroyed baseline trust in outbound. video, calling, LinkedIn links all work because they're harder to fake at scale. but the bar keeps moving. the real differentiator is specificity โ referencing something so specific to the prospect that it couldn't have been mass-generated. that's harder to automate than format.
I've been doing cold email for 4+ years. It's really not personalization that gets results. We get 5 leads every day and the only personalization we do is mentioning their ICP. What actually works is: A strong front end cold traffic offer Proof A cta tied to value (something that's easy to say yes to and brings value. Not a one-pager, not a deck, but something built specifically for them) That's it
