Building Recursive AI Lead Scoring and Messaging Systems for Outreach Programs

Has anyone managed to build recursive or self-learning mechanisms into their outreach programs? By this I mean, a reliable way to score leads and messaging so that you best utilize your resources. I feel like, if you're able to tell an AI model what a good outbound message looks like, based on the ones that historically converted, then it should be able to tell you how close or far away you are from that. More than just the content of the message, but also all of the trackable datapoints: about the person and their company, their situation, and any relevant context about the lead. Then it can use the successful scenarios to infer how similar or dissimilar the new lead is. In my head I have some rough ideas of how I'd design a system like this. A lead scoring model that improves over time, and tells you what a good message looks like. Just wondering if anyone else has worked on this angle and how they approached it?

Hi Peter, The scoring model might be easier to get based on your own experience. The real thing might be the model inventing confident reasons a lead looks good that don't survive a second look, so the first thing that matters is kind of forcing every reason to cite a real datapoint instead of just a vibe. The question you're actually circling, using what converted to score what's new, is a new game, your own criteria. Most setups store the past, they don't learn from it. Logging this converted is ok. Getting the system to quietly fade the patterns that stopped working and surface the ones that still do, without you re-tuning it by hand, is a completely different thing to work with. I went all the way down that rabbit hole to work with our own leads. We couldn't find a way to define our own rules/criteria for scoring leads as we wanted to. What does your setup look like right now, and are you scoring the lead, the message, or both?

At the moment, thinking about this in theory. As I’m currently interviewing and designing POCs and one question I get is in the self learning aspects. As a lot of companies I’m talking to feel like there's some unrealized or untested approach, so I want to curb their expectations and not over promise.

the self-learning part is where most teams get stuck. what actually works is scoring at two levels: message quality (does this look like something that converted before?) and lead fit (firmographic + behavioral signals). score them separately, then combine. for the recursive loop, the simplest version is just tagging replies as positive/negative signal and feeding that back into the scoring model weekly. don't try to make it real-time at first
