SaaS Email Study: Most Buttons Say Learn More Instead of Driving Upgrades – How to Fix It
Hello everyone 👋 Quick test before you scroll past: open the last trial email your team sent and read the button. If it says "Learn more", "Explore" or "Check it out", you're in the 96%. I tore down 67 real SaaS emails this year (Revolut, HeyGen and Uber among them). 96% ended on a button that invites the reader to browse instead of decide. A guest doesn't upgrade. An owner does. What else showed up across all 67: → 83% sell features, not what changes for the reader → 83% use subject lines that read like a filing label ("Your March update") → 74% explain the context before naming what the reader gains → 71% make the thing you want clicked the least visible thing in the email → 70% hide their social proof, or skip it entirely Average structural score: 3/10. After the rebuild: 9/10. The fix is rarely more copy. It's the order the reader meets things in.
