welcome Sam. 15 years of building and now learning to distribute is the right way round, mostly because you can ship whatever you decide to test instead of waiting on someone else's sprint to find out if the idea was any good. the part that catches most technical founders is that distribution punishes completeness. building rewards covering every case, distribution rewards saying one narrow thing and letting nine other true things go unsaid. that trade feels like lying the first few times and it isn't, it's just the only way anyone remembers what you do. good to have you here.

Thanks, yes it's been very helpful to be able to build! But also difficult. Building is my comfort zone, there's always something to improve. Time to grow up and learn how to reach out to people 🙂 Lovely to be here, I feel like it's already helping me!

"there's always something to improve" is the trap, mostly because it's always true and always defensible. nobody questions a week spent on the product. a week spent on twenty conversations that went nowhere feels wasted even when it's the more valuable one. the thing that helped me was treating it like a build with a definition of done. a fixed number of conversations a week, and the product only gets touched with what came out of them. otherwise building always wins the calendar, because the feedback loop is faster and it feels like progress on the days the other thing doesn't.
