Hey everyone, I’ve been part of this community for some time and finally decided to post because I’m actively working on transitioning into B2B SaaS sales and would really value guidance from people who’ve already made this move. Quick background about me — I have around 7 years of full-cycle sales experience, mostly in EdTech and professional certification programs. I currently manage about a ~$720K annual quota, close ~$10K average deal sizes, and handle the full sales cycle from discovery to close. I’ve worked with tools like Salesforce, HubSpot, Apollo, and LinkedIn Sales Navigator. Over the past few months, I’ve been intentionally working on becoming SaaS-ready — learning SaaS metrics, understanding ICPs, studying SaaS sales motions, and trying to think more from a business problem-solving perspective. I also built a small AI voice-agent MVP to pre-qualify inbound leads, just to get more hands-on with automation and workflows. Where I’d really value help from this group:
If you transitioned into SaaS from a non-SaaS background, what helped you the most?
What skills or gaps should I focus on to become truly hire-ready?
Given my background, what roles would you recommend targeting first (SDR, SMB AE, BDR, etc.)?
If you’re currently hiring or know teams open to someone making this transition, I’d really appreciate the chance to connect.
Also — if you think there’s any way I could contribute to your team or ongoing projects in B2B SaaS (even in a small way), I’d genuinely appreciate the opportunity. I’m open to helping with outbound, research, discovery prep, CRM work, demos, or anything that gives me hands-on exposure. Not looking for shortcuts — just trying to do this the right way and learn from people who’ve actually done it. Happy to connect or share more details if helpful. Hi everyone,
I have 7+ years of experience in full-cycle, high-ticket sales — currently closing ~$10K deals and managing a 700+ lead pipeline monthly.
My work involves outbound prospecting, discovery, objection handling, and driving deals to closure through CRM.
I am now transitioning into SaaS sales and aligning my approach with how SaaS teams operate (ICP-led prospecting, demo-driven selling).
Would love to learn from this community:
What is one mistake you see people make when moving into SaaS sales?
Also open to SDR/BDR opportunities (India / Remote / Global teams).
