The Risks of Relying on AI Without Technical Skills
Just got this email and it hits: A popular marketer on Twitter built (“vibe coded”) an app with AI. He said: “I think I’m going to give up on vibe coding for now. I tried building something but besides the nice initial design I always end up stuck with errors.” He later admits, “I’m not technical so I have no idea if what the tools are doing is right or not.” This is the core problem with AI and it’s becoming more clear than ever — awful cold email outreach, stupid and vapid comments on social media, and just an all-around lack of thinking. (Thinking is important? Who knew!) If you’re not great at something, AI isn’t going to make you any better. Why? AI doesn’t teach you anything, you don’t learn from it, and you get frustrated by the results. It’s not that AI sucks, but if you’re not an expert at what it’s doing for you, you won’t know how to use or manage its output. Here’s what happens when you relinquish control of a process or business function to AI: People delete or ignore your emails faster than ever Deals die on the vine Trust in you and your brand go down the toilet So, what do we do? Give up? Continue paying for tools and services that do us no good? Nah. But you should stop using AI to do things you’re not good at and learn to fix these problems
