Curious to see where everyone stands on this. Connect rate can make a huge difference in outbound. If a rep makes 60 dials a day: At a 5% connect rate, that’s 3 conversations. At a 25% connect rate, that’s 15 conversations. Same number of dials. Very different outcome. So what connect rate is your team currently seeing on cold calls?
Under 5%
5% to 10%
11% to 20%
Above 20%
Hey Amin G., are you referring to B2B or B2C sales? Do you count gatekeepers as connects?
Hey Jonathan B., I am referring to B2B sales.. and no gatekeepers do not count as connects..
I's say 5% - 10%. Calling mobile numbers first
Sam D. That makes sense. Calling mobile numbers first definitely gives reps a better chance of getting through compared to relying on office lines. I’m curious though, if your reps had a higher percentage of accurate mobile numbers available for the people they’re targeting, do you think that 5–10% connect rate could move noticeably higher? I’ve been thinking a lot about how much of connect rate comes down to the calling approach versus simply having the right number to call in the first place.
I've seen data from leadership at two different companies, each doing B2B SaaS. It was a mix of cell phone numbers and organization numbers. They were going off 60 dials per day as well. Both circumstances came back at a 13% connect rate...this means they actually spoke to a human. Doesn't includes Voicemails, no connect, etc. Actually speaking to a human. Plus my own personal experience as an IC, I would say that was about right.
Hello pshearer80 13% actual human conversations is a really useful benchmark, especially since you’ve seen it across two different B2B SaaS teams and in your own experience. It also makes me wonder how much higher that number could go if a larger percentage of those 60 dials were accurate direct dials and mobile numbers rather than company lines. That’s something we focus quite a bit on at CloudLead, making sure reps have verified numbers that actually give them a better chance of reaching the person they’re targeting. Would be interesting to see whether that 13% could be pushed closer to 20% with better coverage.
