I may be dumb, but about to just do an old school a/b test on some outbound - not for $$$ but for new member acquisition, perks page submitters, and other $0 entry points to the community. I have a hypothesis for this type of stuff, optimizing non-ai messages 'may' work better (because I don't *think* I need to mention a linkedin post, job change, or funding announcement to build credibility - big part because of the community we've built). wish us luck π
Jared, I don't fully understand this but I am excited to hear how it goes. My thoughts are: old school outbound will continue to make more and more a comeback in the sense that: in-person meetups, cold calling, warm introductions, and personalized emails will far outweigh volunteer outreach for conversion. Thoughts?
I think old school outbound for $0 things (event invites, community sign ups, things that drive more value than the time they cost for the person to consume) is underutilized for top of funnel to drive to middle.
I dont think you need to "show me you know me" when the offer is free.99. If its cold though, you will need to get them to see the value fast. Too many guru's building Skool courses and communities that die in 3 months. Also, I'm new here and showed up after asking Gemini for startup communities, so good job on the AEO.
I think the old-school version can absolutely win here. For a free offer, people mostly need to understand the value quickly and feel like the ask is low-risk... they donβt need a paragraph proving you researched them. Iβd test the reason for the invite, a little social proof, and how fast the message gets to the payoff.
