When I worked with accelerators in San Francisco, Austin and Atlanta, we ran early-adopter programs built around helping users get a first win. For your tool, I’d recruit five target customers, offer premium access or extra lead credits for testing and candid feedback, and help them generate pipeline or save time. Once they’ve experienced that value, invite an honest review separately.

Something like: “I’m inviting five salespeople to help shape a new LinkedIn tool built to grow pipeline and save time. You get three months of premium access and hands-on help launching your first campaign. In return, tell us what works, what’s frustrating, and what’s missing. Interested?”

After they’ve used it: “Now that you’ve had a chance to put the tool to work, will you share an honest review on Capterra? Your experience helps other buyers decide. And helps us improve.”

Also, tap into founder groups and accelerator alumni communities. Especially those with B2B founders doing their own sales. Ask community hosts to introduce you to a few members who fit your ideal customer. Or post something like: ”Hey everyone, I'm launching a LinkedIn tool to compete with the giants. I need 5 beta testers who want free premium access for life in exchange for candid product feedback and a Product Hunt/Capterra review when we launch. I’d love support!”

This is really helpful, thanks for taking the time. The two-step approach (delivering an initial win through hands-on support first, then asking for a review separately) is much sharper than the direct ask I was using. I'm already doing outbound to agencies, but founder groups and accelerator alumni are definitely a gap I can start targeting this week. Thank you.

And as you grow, set up triggers based on ‘aha moments’ an automated in-app message or email the exact day a user connects their first X # of leads when their first sequence hits a X%+ acceptance rate. Then their review is more likely to be based on value and outcomes

Acceptance rate and connection count are already part of the metrics we track, so setting up a trigger based on those should be doable this week. A review request that comes right after a value moment is going to land very differently from one asked out of context. Really appreciate it!

Hello Fiona W., The trigger Lori described is on my list for this week, but today’s touchpoint is a one-off, not a drip campaign. We’re pre-revenue and running early access with a small group of active users. So I’m not optimising an established flow yet. I’m designing one from scratch while the sample size is still small.
