Peter E. for sure, my only inclination is that we will see so much disruption over the coming years, that todays startups/founders will start on a foundation that looks nothing like the old, and in a few years, legacy orgs on legacy vendors will have been disrupted by newer orgs running leaner and with far less overhead, who thanks to AI will probably feel comfortable operating many of their own systems rather than forking out the kinds of fees in licenses that current CRM vendors demand

i also hooked up my own copilot directly to Twenty which is a lethal combo

needless to say yes, there is a tidal shift underway and who knows how things will ultimately settle but disruption is happening at a rapid, unpredictable pace

Peter E. for pure CRM I've been loving Twenty, it's open source/free, well architected with a modern UI that looks and feels like Attio/Notion, and a ton of customization capability (custom modules, fields, workflows, email integration)... i'd wager it can take folks quite a ways at zero cost before they really start needing more, and if they do, can probably claude code it to taste (fyi i am not affiliated with Twenty in any way shape or form, just a happy user)

also important in this discussion, is that, where simple AI copilots work fine for CRM read/write operations (huge efficiency boosters in and of themselves), as they start to transition from systems of record to systems of action, the latter will likely involve customer-facing agents, where controlling agent behavior and providing the oversight mechanisms to ensure they can be trusted at scale, is not something CRM's will be very well suited for.. and this aspect might be better handled by specialized platforms that integrate with CRM rather than a part of CRM

Evan D. indeed, ive used that exact approach to do entire crm migrations, linked it above, its basically just a deep agent with a crm migration skill

on a time horizon of 3-4 years which is nothing these days, we could be entering a very different reality
