Based on my own experiences, I think the best approach would be to first do it yourself — figure out the sales process, learn what works, and refine it. Once you’ve done that, you can bring in a commission-only salesperson.
The thing is, without any equity or fixed pay, most salespeople won’t go out of their way to hit targets. Their morale can drop if they don’t see quick results. You’ll end up spending time hiring, training, and then replacing them when they leave.
So, it’s better to start by doing it yourself, build the playbook, and then bring in a commission-only salesperson. Since they don’t have real skin in the game, they’re not the right fit for figuring out your sales process from scratch.
