everyone - Hubspot question. B2B saas with annual subscriptions (some monthly).
Trying to figure out best practice on customer renewals. We've historically cloned the NB deal into a Repeat Biz pipeline to track renewals. The company that just acquired us only creates deals for NewBusiness however then they track renewal revenue via a custom object (partly because they have metered billing in arrears).
Wondering what others do in hubspot for tracking customer renewals?
Do you have a subscription management platform? In HubSpot you can’t use line items on custom objects. So generally I will approach this one of two ways depending on what is happening with subscription management #1 New business pipeline, renewals pipeline, and mid year amendment pipeline - all push updates to the subscription object. #2 new business pipeline, renewals pipeline, and mid-year amendment pipeline - all push updates to a "master subscription deal" that is connected to the subscription management tool - this gives you a deal with current state + deals for booked revenue, time of sales data. A 3rd option, and my current preference is using the HubSpot Subscription object and using option 1 above and pushing all updates to the subscription object. lots of caveats to all of the above depending on subscription structure, renewal process, and subscription management/billing platform. Happy to chat in more detail.
Brian M. - If you'd like to chat, happy to discuss what I've seen as best practices with HubSpot (being a newer HS user as Sales Lead and Sales Ops). MonetizeNow does something pretty cool by deploying a "Contract" card in HS (similar to SFDC's Contract Object) to power things like Amendments/Renewals. It also unifies Quoting, Billing, and Usage/Metering operations in a centralized Q2C/revenue engine concept (+ built specifically for SaaS orgs w/ a no code concept)
