I have a question, it’s been bothering my mind. Is there a reason a lot of recruiters don’t want to hire people from Africa, we have a lot of talented people who are ready to do the work efficiently as well. Take myself for instance, I have experience in sales, customer support and project management but I’ve been trying to get a job to no avail. It’s saddening.
Kamil M. thanks for contributing to this conversation. As regards the spoken English most Africans do speak quite well, but not everyone does sometimes a single experience may put a recruiter off. As for market experience this is true but there are also African talents who have positioned themselves for the international market. I for instance have a solid experience in running meta ads in the American market but I guess it's really the preference of the employer. From the recruiter standpoint I guess it's always better to work with familiar territory
From my European perspective is basically three things:
accent (something it’s more mumbling than speaking understandable English)
low quality Environment / background setup
culture (really really often it’s about understanding the audience. In example - if I’m from Poland I’d better understand German market than someone from Africa)
Timezone is not really a problem. I hope I helps:)
