Navigating Promotions in Small Business Environments

I have worked professionally for 12 years primarily in one industry. All at small business (non corporate), small teams work directly for senior leadership type. Is it possible in these types of environments you can simply be too valuable as a ICP and not get promoted?

Really hard to tell just from this post. 3 sides: your domain skills, your soft skills, and the opportunity being there or not. Might be worth it to get at least some short term career coaching.
