Hey all! Has anyone been using the beta for Claudeforce? I currently use N8N as my connector for a great deal of things, but I am not comfortable giving my agents access to read, write, and update SFDC.
yeah i wouldnt give agents write access to sfdc either. what i'd do is read only creds, and have the agent drop proposed updates somewhere else (a sheet or a staging object) and approve before anything actually writes. in n8n that's basically an approval step before the update node
Kshitij's approval step is a good start. The second risk is what the agent reads before it writes. If the CRM has duplicates or stale fields, the agent writes confident updates on top of them. I'd check the fields it will touch before giving it any write access. Has anyone tracked how often their agent's proposed updates were wrong?
yeah that's the scarier part honestly. approval only helps if the reviewer can tell the update is wrong, and with stale data it usually looks fine. haven't seen anyone track the wrong rate properly, would love to know if someone has
I'd be careful too. I'd start agents read-only, put an approval step in front of any update to the CRM, and keep a short list of the fields they're allowed to change. It's also worth tracking how often a proposed update is wrong. That number tells you what the agent should never touch on its own.
The short allowlist of fields is the part I trust most. CRM data debt makes a bad update look fine in the approval queue. Has anyone tracked that wrong rate for a month, then cut fields from the list?
I haven't run that exact test, but it seems worth doing. A month of tracking which fields get wrong updates or need cleanup would show where the debt is, and cutting those before you lock the allowlist is cheaper than fixing them later. When we gave new reps a CRM with auto-generated scripts, they had less to make up as they went, and they started closing about 60% faster.
This is fantastic, thank you all for the thoughts! I was going down a similar path - its the constant issue of sales reps and their hygiene - its difficult to get reps to update records and keep things as accurate as possible. We are moving to SFDC soon, and in the meantime, I created an interm CRM with a google sheet, and build a slack app where reps can go and have a conversation with the App, and it will read, create, write, update, etc. Its ok since its in a google sheet controlled environment, but I am not comfortable with it overriding salesforce. I created an error alert log in case anything happens, along with a full update log, but having a slack app or agents automatically update SFDC is scary to me - screenshot of the n8n for reference
The sheet plus Slack app makes the hygiene gap easy to see. Agents writing into Salesforce feel risky when every field is open. What will you lock on day one, so only a few fields can change?
did you check prostir for this task? or plain supabase this n8n and alternatives are too fragile for me
the biggest downside is spreadheet is hardly readable by AI if you transfer your data to database like supabase + add simple prompt like
I need to have events and history for every lead update with blame + scope of changes
your life will never be the same
I'd go with a staging object and compare each proposed value against the current SFDC value before anything writes. The sheet works as an interim CRM, but it's a risky bridge into SFDC since it goes stale fast. The bigger question is where wrong updates come from: the agent misreading the rep, the rep giving bad info, or stale data already in the CRM? If you log the raw rep message, the agent's parsed update, and the prior value, you can tell which one it is and decide which fields are safe to open up.
