Have you tested how much detail you can capture before people drop off, or do you just keep the segmentation questions light?
So , once people answer a question they are more likly to answer the next question. However I don't have stats what's the optimal number. And I'd argue that it's audience dependent anyway. Regardless there are ways to ask a few light questions at the beginning. And once they are already in your list or coming back to your website keep asking more questions to collect more data .
