B2B Homepage Copy Scorer Reveals Sales Reps Write Better Cold Emails Than Marketing Teams
Hello all. Mick Hollison, new RevGenius member here. Longtime software exec. Just chatted with Jared and told me it would be ok to get this quick story out to everyone. A funny thing happened with a free tool I built. I run a small messaging and positioning shop and made a scorer for B2B homepage copy. Paste text or a URL, get 0-100 on how much is signal vs. filler. Built it entirely with marketing teams in mind. Then a friend of mine in enterprise sales ran his cold follow-up through it. Not a homepage. An actual outbound email. It beat almost every company site I'd tested — and I've tested Salesforce, OpenAI, Snowflake. Most of the big names land in the 40s-60s. His email nearly maxed out. Dug into why and it made sense. The scorer rewards the same four things whether it's a tagline or a cold open: a real human in the sentence, a specific you can verify, no buzzwords, no run-on burying the point. A good sales email does all four. Most corporate copy does none. So now I have a theory: reps consistently out-write the marketing teams whose product they sell. Drop a cold email opener in the thread and I'll run it and share the breakdown. Free, no signup, and honestly I want the data. My money's on the reps.
