I have this ridiculous goal of making $18k per month next year. The sooner the better! Here's what I do:
Content writing for SaaS brands
Ghostwriting LinkedIn posts for SaaS company execs
Most recent was write interview questions (this shocked me like, people pay just gor the questions?)
Also connected to another agency doing referrals
So, is there anyone here who does something similar to what I do and is making 18k monthly Or, anyone just plain supportive to tell me I'm not delusional 😅 If I am that's totally fine... My goals always tend to be big. 🫣 Am I reaching too high?
It depends on where you live and who you’re selling too. But in business, the sky the limit 😄 To do napkin maths, you could just multiply you’re current contract size by the number of clients you can serve in a month. If it’s more than 18k$ -> congrats, if it’s less -> you have to review your plan (expectations and/or other variables). Also, If you catched something unexpected like interview questions, you could dig into this and this how big the opportunity is.
hi, Tammy, I would say it depends on a few things but could be possible:
Where (you and) your clients are located
Industry
What you are making now
What your available capacity is
I would say I do similar things and am getting to that amount, but MY OWN TIME is the biggest factor (obviously I can charge more for my services to make that up, but I have one client a large majority of time I'm with). Happy to chat more about what we are each doing, if you like!
Hi Tammy, I work exclusively with agencies and without knowing you at all (and I'm very willing to be proven wrong!) I'll be the naysayer here: unless you were earning about $17K/month consistently for the past year, you probably are setting expectations that are too high. You have to be clocking $4K a week, which means you better have a fully-baked product offering and a full pipeline, plus extra for churn. Unfortunately, everything you listed is stuff my virtual assistant Iffy does for $20/hour using AI. Content writing on any platform is so commoditized now. And unless you're Jason Swenk's cousin, agency referrals are not a $18K/mo service offering. There's hope: if you have connections to execs, interview THEM on their biggest headaches. That's the first step to building your $18K/mo lifestyle: loving the problems faced by your target market. Just don't pick the unfunded SaaS execs: they won't have money to pay your rate 😅
Valerie C. Hi Valerie, I hope you don't mind if I DM you? Or maybe we can connect on LinkedIn? I would love to chat more and learn how you go about your business. Dan N. I think that is the reason why my clients are sticking with me and why one previous client reached out again? Because I don't produce content with AI. I write narrative-driven content anchored in genuine storytelling and that's something AI just can't do as well as humans. But I appreciate your thoughts. And yes, no unfunded SaaS execs hahaha Matt G. Right now, I think I just need to have 2 solid anchor clients to start with. I have a brand I'm working with on a per article basis but unless I pitch story ideas to them and unless they approve it, I have nothing. Luckily, they are enjoying my ideas and my work because, like I said, I don't use AI so it's just very different compared to AI content. At the same time I really need to work on expanding my network and connecting with folks from many other brands. Hopefully this will result in me ghostwriting for their execs. I also need to find more companies to refer to the agency I'm collaborating with. They pay a percentage per month, instead of like a one-time finder's fee so this is a great way to make money consistently without really doing anything.
