Hey everyone, I'm currently looking at starting a partner program at our company. Part of that effort is setting up a partner portal, but there are a lot of options out there and none of them seem to stand out. Anyone worked with any partner portals before that they had a good experience with?
That is such a broad topic--what are you trying to solve for?
Ideally something simple that allows partners to register deals and lets us track payout for partners based on what gets sold. We do security, so we're selling security systems to car lots and the like. The partners will be bringing in companies that need to upgrade their security through our company
Got it--how do you handle deal reg today?
We pretty much don't, it's gonna be a net new process for us
Ya first step - how is it going to be set up?
I've scaled partner deal reg pretty far with just HubSpot forms and workflows.
Peter Engleman is the g w partner program set ups. He ran partnerships for both SaaS and VC
What’s CRM are you currently on?
We're on Salesforce (I'm the admin) I'm pretty sure we still have Hubspot, but barely use it
🛒 🐴 -- if it's net new, let's make it super simple to conceptualize. You need to know what to track, where to track it, who will input it, and how you want to report on it. Take the manual process you have now and imagine creating a form to collect that info. Then think about where you'll store payout percentages and payout periods, and then you'll be 80% of the way there.
I’d highly recommend using experience cloud. Do you have any experience with it? It’s a salesforce product that sits right on top of salesforce. There’s no integration required so it’s probably your best bet.
So this company tried using experience cloud for a different reason and was super turned off by the price. Put a bad taste in their mouth so the vetoed it.
I have a meeting with an AE about using SFDC's specific PRM tool
Got it. Their PRM tools can be more expensive than experience cloud.
