Using Agents to Extract Insights from Call Transcripts Without Paid Tools

Has anyone built agents to pull from call transcripts? I know there are a lot of tools out there but it seems overkill to pay $50/month if you can use a free notetaker and run your agents

if your notetaker gives you API access to transcripts (which a lot of them don't), then you can get Claude to write a script to pull those transcripts into a folder and then your agents can use them to do anything.

I 100% would lose my mind without Granola. It is the best tool I have in my stack. I use them in conjunction with a Claude MCP. Happy to chat if you want some help setting this up

John H. we use fireflies. it can export full transcripts into google drive. then you can query google drive OR use the fireflies claude mcp. it allows to pull both summaries (which is typically does unless you ask for full transcript) and then run whatever you need on top. I have my Claude Personal Assistant pull all calls and summarize them into tasks, assign them to the team after I review and update clickup accordingly. Works well actually.

some sort of note taker is still needed and if you have many calls, then the free version mostly wont cut it in my opinion.

John H. do you mean only zoom meeting notes? that you can do for free with Fathem, they are great. If you want phone calls transcript I also know a few tools. But if you want to go to next level then you can check out the AI SDR video I shared - so your AI will do the admin phone calls for you and share you transcript

great feedback i am thinking about using breeze agents in hubspot to hit the activity notes.Anyone try that yet?

John H. I use Krisp.ai. They have an MCP server setup available if you'd like for your agents to call the server. Personally I like the idea of using a combination of the webhooks, get notification, then do something with your agent, or same idea but use slack notification + MCP.
