hey folks! we're seeing a much lower call connect rate this year than last, less than 5% from UK to US (both using UK and US dialling codes) โ does anyone have any similar data/views or does anyone have any initial tips on how to solve this? our data is good we just seem to be hitting automated screening tools
Yep in the past eight months it's really tanked. I'm completely negating calls from all of my clients now and we're full force into scaled LinkedIn outbound. It's absolutely crushing -, on average around 40% reply rates but many of my clients are getting around 50, 60, 70%.
Yes that's very true! The automated screening tools are the biggest contributor to it.
Noticing the same thing, low connect rates and have doubled down on Linkedin as a result
hate to beat the drum (disclaimer: I run marketing for titanx) but we do guarantee tripling your connect rates in our paid pilot or your money back + $10K we exist to solve this problem, if you'd like to read more POV stuff on it, I'm typing the below fresh by hand: Connect rates have been in decline for the last decade or so. It started with outbound calling funding by Growth-at-all-Costs outbound teams, then accelerated vastly when Koncert and Orum came on the scene with parallel dialing. This worked for a few years but also precipitated its own friction, as call volumes increased, telcos marked more numbers as spam, and most numbers you can now get via Twilio API (which is what most dialers rely on) are well on their way to being marked as spam likely by at least one carrier anyway. iOS26 hurt a bit, but in our data it still accounts for less than 2% of all recipients (since it needs to be turned on manually). This may change over time, but even as it does, it helps to use phone intent (TitanX) to score these numbers before you call them to identify which are likely to answer. Lots more voice of customer to be consumed here https://titanx.io/customer-stories
also worth noting Bittu M. James J. there's a bit of a buyer beware in this space as many do "phone validation" using AI calling to test out if someone is receptive to cold calls, which is a violation of TCPA and technically makes you liable if you buy their services via vicarious liability clause; lots more of these popping up today
Weโve been seeing similar trends on the B2C side. I run a 100% outbound sales team and connect rates have definitely gotten tougher over time because of screening and spam filtering. One thing weโve pivoted to is putting more emphasis on warming the lead before repeated call attempts. Specifically: โข Strong, concise voicemails โข Follow-up SMS โข Targeted email touches When those touches happen before or between call attempts, it tends to create a warmer landing spot for the call and we see better connect rates overall.
everyone: thanks - it's reassuring to know it's not specifically an us problem
we're focusing on higher quality messaging, precision targeting via Clay for emails and also Linkedin follow-ups
SMS ad targeted VM is a great idea
James J.: if you are evaluating tools like TitanX, it's worth evaluating SureConnect.ai as well. They are 7x cheaper, give better data, faster.
I cold call across the world and US has the worst connect rates. UK averages 8-12%. US is 5-7%. This data is without parallel dialers / power dialers. I'm using a few unique campaigns to get 3-5% reply rates on emails + booking 1/5 connects.
