Celebrating 80K Followers: A Journey of Authentic Community Building
@channel We hit 80k followers on the RevGenius company page (in 5 short years). Not by writing the best hooks for posts, but by being the most human I could be. Of the first 5k members of RevGenius, I probably personally invited 4k. Of the first 10k members, over half. You get the idea. But, why would they trust somebody who, at the time, was new on the scene? I curated the community based on ideal member fit. Did everything I could do actually help people and create a space for all GTM professionals - land jobs, make intros, support their businesses. I did this all asking for no financial rewards from the members. On LinkedIn, I posted real authentic content. Showed my airmattress on the floor of an office building I lived in. Showed me working from my dad's deck. Shared my rebound story from the bottom. Yes, I've been the top rep in Fortune 100. Yes, I've had multiple exits. But what connected with people more than anything, was me being vulnerable. I also had severe anxiety (it's improving). I also have been fired multiple times. I have my flaws and am not the most decorated GTM leader. But I am learning. I do have integrity. And I'm improving. 80k is a reflection of that. 80k is a reflection of all the people that resonated with that helping tell a colleague or connection to join. 80k is a reflection of folks wanting change. This started as an experiment to land a job. But it's become so much more. It's become a life, a purpose, and a mission. I have so much gratitude and love and excitement. Thank you for being a part of the journey. ❤️
